Permanent Fulltime Position – Brisbane CBD, QLD Location 

The Role

As the Principal Safety Governance Advisor you will apply your well-developed skills to contribute to the continuous improvement of the WHS management system (WHSMS) as well as the delivery of capability training. In addition you will be instrumental in the delivery of compliance and assurance programs to support improvements across the organisations WHS functions.

The Safety Governance team delivers specialist safety governance and compliance functions. The team also plays a key role in strategic planning for WHS high level projects and program development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead a team to develop and deliver health and safety governance functions within the organisation. 
  • Contribute to strategic planning in line with organisational goals relating to work, workplace and worker health and safety.
    Plan, formulate, develop, implement, and monitor work health and safety management system and performance standards which establish compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Research, develop and implement systems and initiatives, practices and policies relating to work health and safety to support the corporate health and safety management system framework.
  • Develop documentation, including Cabinet and ministerial submissions, executive briefs, policies, procedures, reports, staff communications and review proposals on work health and safety issues and initiatives.
  • Provide WHS advice to all levels of management, health and safety advisors and members, including guidance on WHSMS requirements including compliance and assurance audits

The Candidate

  • Lead Auditor Qualifications 
  • High standards of written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar level role,
  • Demonstrated good knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Ability to influence, coach and engage with all stakeholder
  • Good skills using Microsoft Office suite
